Now Accepting New Clients

Hi, I'm Emilie
Welcome. I’m so glad you’re here. I work well with all sorts of people, but we may be a particularly good fit if you’re interested in an empathetic, non-directive approach where you have the time and space to explore and process whatever you need to during our time together.
My areas of interest and specialization as a therapist come from both my own lived experience, and the fulfilling, special work I’ve done with clients in these areas. I work with adults and adolescents, and I generally work well with clients focusing on:
-
Maternal and perinatal care
-
Grief and loss
-
Trauma
-
Chronic and terminal illness, medical trauma, caregivers
-
Neurodivergence
-
Gender, sexuality, and identity exploration
-
Strained family relationships
-
Highly sensitive, strong emotions
I practice from a person-centered lens, meaning I believe and trust in you and your inherent ability to find healing and growth, and I care deeply about all of my clients. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), I hold a Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C), and I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). In my work I also use strategies based in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), self-compassion, and somatic/mind-body connection work. I don’t follow strict protocols, instead I tailor and adjust these approaches to meet your unique needs in ways you feel most supported. I love incorporating humor into my work and believe that finding laughter in the otherwise dark and challenging parts of life can be healing.
Have a portable creative project or hobby you’re working on? Coloring, knitting, crochet, embroidery, diamond or sticker painting, etc.? You are more than welcome to bring it to therapy with you! I’ve found that keeping your hands occupied with a calming activity can be really helpful as you begin to open up and allow yourself to be emotionally vulnerable. I have fidgets and small comfort items in my office, but you are also welcome to bring anything of your own that brings you a sense of calm and comfort.
Outside of my work, my interests include exploring all things local, reading any book I can get my hands on, creative writing and journaling, crafting, cuddling up with my pets, spending time with family, practicing and teaching yoga, and being a lifelong lover of learning.
I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Xavier University in 2016, and my Bachelor’s in Psychology from Wright State University in 2013. I have experience working in community mental health, school-based and home-based services, early childhood mental health, and private practice. My license number is E.2303847.
