Hi, I'm Avery
As an art therapist and clinical counselor, I work from a strengths-based, relational perspective, using creativity and connection to support healing. With over a decade of experience, I offer a supportive, affirming space where you can make sense of your experiences, build tools to navigate life’s stressors, and create meaningful, lasting growth. My own lived experiences and training have led me to work best with individuals (18+) experiencing:

-
Anxiety
-
Depression
-
Addiction
-
Difficulty with life's transitions
-
Women's issues
-
Infertility
-
Perinatal mental health
-
Trauma

I believe most people have experienced some form of trauma in their lives, often being hurt within their relationships. In order to heal, we need to become grounded in healthy, supportive connections, which is where therapy enters the conversation.

My approach is trauma-informed and integrates the creative process and active art-making. Research has demonstrated that words can only take us so far; we often filter what we share with others and may struggle to find the language to express our thoughts and feelings. Art therapy allows us to move beyond words to access deeper layers of insight and healing. No experience with art-making is necessary. I will help you with the materials and techniques, always moving at your own pace.

While I believe art is inherently therapeutic, I also understand it may feel outside your comfort zone. I am equally comfortable offering traditional talk therapy or taking a walk down Wasson Way. I view our work as collaborative, flexible, and tailored to your needs. Together, we’ll create an approach that feels right for you.

A little bit about me:
I am married and have three daughters. The beach is my happy place, I love trees, and making art is life-giving for me.
In and out of the therapy room, you will often find me sitting on the floor or curled up under a blanket.

I earned my Master's in Art Therapy at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2012. Throughout my career, I've focused on supporting individuals and families navigating trauma. I am passionate about the field of art therapy, have a deep love of learning, and share my knowledge as an adjunct instructor at the University of Cincinnati.

I look forward to getting to know you
